Appearance
Mizumaru is most often wearing a green flannel shirt underneath grey fishing overalls. These tuck into a pair of knee-high boots. He has short, curly brown hair and green eyes, his nose is round and flat and his skin is noticeably tanned. He wears a green fishing hat, which he never takes off. Mizumaru's shoulders are a little broader than average. He has an excellent aim and good arm strength, which helps him cast reels. His hands have lots of nicks and scars on them from being bitten by fish, but he doesn't mind; he considers them signs of his courage.

Personality
Mizumaru is outwardly calm and quiet, but has a strong sense of adventure. He loves to be outdoors and feels very uncomfortable in small spaces. Fishing for large and difficult-to-catch species is his favourite variety and he has broken several rods trying to snag the biggest catches possible. He's surprisingly impatient as well. Though excellent at fishing and enjoying it immensely, Mizumaru is meek and cowardly in any other sort of dangerous situation. He tries to gain as many allies as possible, and will completely trust anyone he sees as a friend. He can be seen as foolish and stupid because of this. His favourite place to be is on a boat, especially out on a river or in the ocean. He is a proficient swimmer.

Background
Mizumaru was born in Nagasaki to a long line of fishermen, and was taught to fish exactly as his relatives were. He was once taken out to open sea with some family friends and instantly fell in love with the thrill and danger of it. While the rest of his family is a little more accustomed to sitting calmly by lakes, Mizumaru finds himself more satisfied with thrills and difficult catches. He has spent many of his summers at sea, trying to find the most impressive catches possible. Eventually he became the pride and joy of his family and the talk of the prefecture, earning him his title as SHSL Fisherman. He wants to get out of Hope's Peak and show the world he is still as strong and successful as ever.
